You or I can cancel at anytime - Life is crazy! WHY COME TRAIN WITH ME? There are the 3 basic reasons to come see me in my "Diamond Dugout": 1. To break bad habits and understand WHY we have them. 2. To improve speed/accuracy/movement. 2. To build mental and physical resilience+confidence on and off the mound. "IT ALL STARTS AT HOME PLATE" refers to my enthusiasm for pitching + the connection between our gut and mental health. In addition to my 14 years pitching coach experience, I am a certified MindBody Eating Coach (Institute for the Psychology of Eating: Boulder, CO 2018 www.psychologyofeating.com) and MindBody Chef for Compass Hiking and Yoga Retreats (www.compasshikingandyoga.com). You can find my cooking and food education shenanigans on social media (@lindseyshifley + @moregutsmoreglory) where I share fun and easy "real food" recipes. Let's find some real food balance in our fast pitch LIFE = Pitch FAST, eat SLOW! Remember: The "change up" is the most important pitch ;-) MINDBODY PITCHING It is extremely important to pitch with correct & consistent form: to prevent injury to increase speed to improve accuracy to develop new pitches to improve the mental circle to build resilience & confidence My coaching style utilizes video feedback, live mirror work, and demonstration pitching (on my part) to help pitchers break bad habits and establish a stronger foundation for increased power and control. In addition to the physical aspect to pitching, the mental aspect to pitching is an extremely important - if not the MOST integral element - in your daughter's development on the mound. I will teach her how to: Go DEEP & be the BEET. It takes some strong roots to grow more guts for more glory. PRACTICE I advise my softball athletes to be practicing AT LEAST 3-4x's PER WEEK OR MORE. If regular practice is NOT happening outside of lessons, development will be slow. And nothing should be slow except for the change up. Does your pitchers WANT to practice? If not, you must have the conversation about stopping lessons. This is a tough conversation to have and when the warning signs occur (i.e. you are frustrated for always being the one to remind/push her and there is guilt tripping going on for the financial investment...) please be open to this important communication with your daughter. Listen. She may just need a nudge out of some growing pains or fear of failure. But it could also be that life is calling her to develop another passion and you get to save your money! Please let me know, and I will do my best to discuss this in our next lesson. Growth mindset, passion, and a little "obsession" are prerequisites for elite pitching. It is important that money+time is not being wasted on lessons if her interests lie somewhere else. Listen and observe. The pitcher is in the driver’s seat; Our feet may step on the gas + breaks at times BUT if she isn’t steering, she is NOT in control and will not be able to take full credit for what she is accomplishing on the mound. Therefore, if there is "pitching-practice-tug-of-war" going on between you and your pitcher, LET GO... We can schedule when she is practicing again and ready to WORK on setting and meeting her goals.
